The Norway Grants ICT call attracted great interest from digital developers

The Call for proposals under the Norwegian Financial Mechanism Programme 'Business Development, Innovation and SMEs' in the field of information communication and technology (ICT) attracted great interest. A total of 35 applications were received with a total sum 19 mln. Euro required for project funding.

"The field of smart technology is still growing, although it is already being applied in many businesses or various segments of life. Especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, demand increased in GovTech, FinTech and DI. Most companies have taken a fresh look at this type of technology, which can be adapted to diversify productivity, to promote business growth. ", says Gintas Kimtys, the director of MITA. Following the Call for Proposals in the field of ICT last week, there has been a great deal of interest from various ICT companies."The range of areas for applicants is quite wide - from financial to artificial intelligence services," says Ina Sinkevičiūtė, Norway Grants Programme coordinator.

“The potential of science in Lithuania is high, especially in the field of ICT - it is possible according to the need of ICT specialists. The Lithuanian ICT market is the largest in the Baltic States, distinguished by its quality, young IT talents and world-renowned start-ups.", I. Sinkevičiūtė shares her insights. “Investments in the innovation potential of the Norway Grants program have helped ICT companies to expand their ideas, strong business competition and the common rights that need to be allocated to the new and more sustainable Lithuanian economy. The program promotes research and experimental development (R&D) activities, then participating projects start from early-stage innovation to testing new technologies and supporting their first commercialization (pilot and demonstration facilities).

The applicants of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism Program “Business Development, Innovation and SMEs” in the field of information communication and technology are private companies registered in Lithuania. These are very small, small and medium-sized Lithuanian companies and large companies in which state shares make up no more than 25 percent. The maximum amount allocated to one project is EUR 1,000,000, and it can intensively reach as much as 80%. Evaluation of the selection of buses for the funded application for each product with technological innovation and commercial potential and application innovation potential, all projects must be related to scientific experimental (R&D) activities, and the final product must stand out from existing and existing innovations. There is also a bus evaluation partnership with Norwegian companies - additional points will be awarded for the participation of Norwegian partners in the evaluation of design applications.

A total sum of 15 million euros will make up the investment sum for projects under the Norway Grants program "Business Development, Innovation and SMEs", of which 5.5 million Euro for ICT innovation only, with the remaining 9.5 million Euro for Green industry innovation and business skills.
